“For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.”- Isaiah 33:22

"(The Bible) is not a record of world history as men would write it. It is a scared history. It is history from God's vantage point. It is the story behind history, for it gives the meaning to history." (Lawrence O. Richards / Gary J. Bredfeldt, Creative Bible Teaching, p. 48)

"Odd how much it hurts when a friend moves away - and leaves behind only silence." - Pam Brown (or, might I add, in some cases, when you move away from friends and find yourself moving into silence...)

Complete in Thee

Complete in Thee! no work of mine

May take, dear Lord, the place of Thine;
Thy blood hath pardon bought for me,
And I am now complete in Thee.

Refrain:
Yea, justified! O blessed thought!
And sanctified! Salvation wrought!
Thy blood hath pardon bought for me,
And glorified, I too, shall be!

Complete in Thee! no more shall sin,
Thy grace hath conquered, reign within;
Thy voice shall bid the tempter flee,
And I shall stand complete in Thee.

Complete in Thee— each want supplied,
And no good thing to me denied;
Since Thou my portion, Lord, wilt be,
I ask no more, complete in Thee.

Dear Saviour! when before Thy bar
All tribes and tongues assembled are,
Among Thy chosen will I be,
At Thy right hand, complete in Thee.

"If you were waiting for the opportune moment - that was it." - Captain Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl)

I am not skilled to understand
What God has willed, what God has planned
I only know at His right hand
Stands one who is my Savior

I take Him at His word and deed
Christ died to save me; this I read
And in my heart I find a need
Of Him to be my savior

That He would leave His place on high
And come for sinful man to die
You count it strange, so once did I
Before I knew my Savior

(Chorus)
My Savior loves, My Savior lives
My Savior's always there for me
My God: He was, my God; He is
My God is always gonna be

Yes, living, dying, let me bring
My strength, my solace from this spring;
That He who lives to be my King
Once died to be my Savior

That He would leave His place on high
And come for sinful man to die
You count it strange, so once did I
Before I knew my Savior

"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen." - Eph. 3:20-21

Poems

Love – by Eric Hall (10-30-08)

(Based on 1 Corinthians 13)

Love is always patient;

Love is always kind;

Love is never envious

Nor seeks to boast of “mine”

Love is always acting right

Love is sacrificial

Love is slow to aggravate

Nor thinks quickly of evil

Love rejoices in the truth

Love can bears all things

Love is trusting, and so acts

And hopes in everything

Love endures till the end

Love will never fail

Love will be there in the calm

And there be also in the gale

Sunset - by Eric Hall (10-27-08)

The yellow, red, and orangish hue
As the sun slowly slips below;
The water that was once bright blue
Now fades to a golden yellow

The clouds all fluffy and white
Clearly visible they were
Now hide behind the fading light
And become a pillowy blur

The beauty of the mixing shades
Comes now into my view
The awesomeness of God conveyed
In the many mixes of the hue

The golden sun slowly blends
Into the horizon yonder
The painted skyline has no ends
And leaves me stuck in wonder

And as I think to take a shot
At capturing the sight;
A picture though surely will not
Portray this vision right

I Sit and Ponder – by Eric Hall (10-22-08)

I sit and ponder

Thinking

My thoughts wander

Sinking

Sinking into something

What?

I do not know

My thought drifts

Scattering

My heart shifts

Shattering

Shattering to shards

Why?

Because of the past

The shards now fall

Spreading

This most of all

Dreading

Dreading being broken

How?

By those that I love

A Hand reaches down

Healing

Turning back the frown

Revealing

Revealing Himself

Who?

The God of Heaven

A new feeling inside

Increasing

The hurts now subside

Ceasing

Ceasing to stab inside

When?

When He came to comfort

Now In His hands

Staying

To follow His plans

Praying

Praying for His will

Why?

So I know its right

I sit and ponder

Thinking

My thoughts wander

Sinking

Sinking into something

What?

Into His love divine

Prayer – by Eric Hall (10-18-08)

Though everything is falling apart

Be around me

Help me not to take it to heart

Surround me

Even though tears flow strong

Be near me

When I can not find a song

Cheer me

When things crash down around

Enfold me

When I stumble to the ground

Uphold me

When sadness floods my way

Brighten me

When I have lost my stay

Enlighten me

When all hope seems lost

Comfort me

When in the storm I’m tossed

Support me

And as I kneel to pray

Hear me

And when I’m unsure of Your way

Steer me

Morn – by Eric Hall (10-04-08)

The morning breaks,

And all life wakes

To the sound of gentle breeze;

The peeping birds,

The cattle herds,

And the buzzing of little bees.

The small stream flows,

The sunshine glows

Between the swaying trees

The critters scurry

The deer all hurry

To hide ‘fore someone sees

The grass sways

The dawn dew lays

Across the waking ground

The flowers bloom,

And midnight gloom

Is now nowhere to be found

More sounds appear

And I can hear

The thunders of the falls

The water crash

The ending splash

Oh, the beauty of it all

As I stand,

Seeing the hand

Of God before my eyes.

I think of He -

His love for me,

And have to question why?

In the Midst of a Storm - by Eric Hall (10-04-08)

The storms and winds bellow around

As I sit here on the sea;

I can’t see the land, the soft dry ground,

And the waves – ever higher they be.

I scramble in my little boat

To dump water with my pail;

I pray that I can stay afloat,

While out here in the gale.

I’m lost out in the stormy night -

I cannot find my way;

The rain gives limits to my sight,

So, I stop, and kneel to pray.

Then suddenly, through the night sky,

A bright light shines alone:

The lighthouse tower I then spy,

And it’s signaling my way home!

I turn my boat there on the sea

To head toward the safety of land.

I know that God is ever with me,

And I’m guided by His hand.

Talking to a Friend – by Eric Hall (09-25-08)

I don’t want this time to end -

This time talking to my friend.

But I know I can’t stop time:

No, that power isn’t mine.

So for now I’ll let time go,

For this one thing I know:

That time goes forward never back,

So time again I will not lack,

To talk to my friend once more,

As I did before.

Time for Thee - by Eric Hall (09-21-08)

Teach me, Lord to use my time,
Not for my benefit, but for Thine;
To use that time that you give to me
To do all that I can to give glory to Thee.

Help me to know how to wisely embrace
The time that I have even now in this place,
And not to squander any moments for me,
But rather use them to bring glory to Thee.

Our God - by Eric Hall (08-14-08)

God is a God Who works for our good

Even when His plans are not understood

God always works with His children in mind

And He works things only through His will and His time

God never moves, unless there’s a plan

He works far above the many thoughts of man

God’s always there, and He never does rest

And He can always be trusted to give you His best!

Letting Go- by Eric Hall (08-14-08)

Today I let go of my best friend

I never thought things would come to this end

No, it was not death they have gone away

My friend has left me another way

I don’t know why things are as they be

Even since this friend meant so much to me

But I know that God has a plan in it all

And by His strength I can stand tall

This time is hard and it is painful to bear it

But I know that God is with me to share it

Through tears of hurt, and sighs of despair

I know that God will always be there

I hope to see my best friend some day ahead

Though, I pray for God’s will, and not mine instead

My best friend I hope to see again some day

Because from my mind they won’t slip away

Forget-me-not by Eric Hall (08-04-08)

Forget me not today, and forget me not tomorrow

Forget me not in times of joy; remember me in sorrow

Forget me not when you are sad, and when you’re feeling down

Forget me not when you’re away – when you are out of town

Forget me not in times of doubt, when you are feeling blue

Forget me not when you are mad, and when you might want to

Forget me not no matter what; keep me in your mind

Forget me not when even at times to you I am unkind

Forget me not in every day, through and through and through

Forget me not because you see, I’ll never forget you!

No Matter What Happens - by Eric Hall (07-10-08)

No matter what tomorrow brings, God will still be there
No matter where life takes you, God is everywhere,
No matter how things are today, bringing joy or sorrow
Remember that God is with you today,
And He'll be there again tomorrow

Though the hard times seem are never ending
And nothing will be made anew;
Just remember that your life God is ever mending,
And every step He will be with you.

"God can bring encouragement" says one man to his friend
"No," replies the doubtful other, "this time just has no end!

"But God is with you in those times, those lengthy times of trial"

"But is he with me today, even now?" asks the second, the first giving a smile;

"Oh, yes," he answers his friend, "He is with you in your time of pain sorrow, and…

“He'll be there still tomorrow!"

Flowers? - by Eric Hall (11-23-07)

Roses are purple and violets are pink,

Oh, wait, no, they are yellow I think?

I don’t know a lot about flowers you see,

So if I get some things wrong, please forgive me.

Flowers are pretty they sure love to grow,

Just how tall they can get I’m not sure I know,

They can get four, five, six, seven feet in a day,

Though I’m not sure they tell it exactly that way.

Flowers come in all colors and fun shapes as well.

Sometimes the shape can be hard to tell;

There are round ones and square ones and oblong ones too

Oh dear, no that’s crazy, and I don’t think it’s true.

Well, I think that I’m done now, with this little rhyme

I think that I’ve wasted enough of your time.

Next time I think that I will take longer

To make my knowledge of the subject much stronger.
